Hello All!
This Friday (01/27), at 6:00pm, we will begin the first week of our
Performance Rumba routine, featuring the song “Whatever Happens” by Michael
Jackson (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mLxs1l3l4HE). For any wondering,
we decided to postpone the Performance Class last week because several of
our officers / instructors were out of town for the Tupelo weekend dance
camp.
This Sunday (01/29) will be the second week of our first rotation. If you
know anyone interested in coming, please let them know that it is not too
late to get started! The schedule is as follows:
3:30pm – 4:30pm – Special Topic – Samba
4:30pm – 5:30pm – Special Topic – Argentine Tango
5:30pm – 6:30pm – Level 1 – East Coast Swing
6:30pm – 7:30pm – Level 1 – Rumba

Also, Friday night (01/27) is Latin night at Gordo’s. The event begins at
10:00pm and ends at 1:00am (http://www.facebook.com/events/356122551082317/).
Many of our officers, instructors, and members are usually there.

Hello everyone! Our new rotation will be starting this Sunday, Oct 02, 2011. The schedule is as follows.
3:30 – 4:30: Level 2 Salsa
4:30 – 5:30: Level 2 Foxtrot
5:30 – 6:30: Level 1 Cha-Cha
6:30 – 7:30: Level 1 Waltz
7:30 – 8:00: Open Dance
As always, we meet in Sanderson Studio A.
We would like to encourage any who have completed a Level 1 class to try the Level 2 classes we are offering. Once you have learned one dance, learning subsequent dances becomes much easier. We will also quickly demonstrate the basic step before moving into our Level 2 material.
You may notice that Performance Tango has not been listed. We have decided to replace our Performance block with a second Level 2 class. We feel this will provide more opportunities for many of our members to continue learning. We do not want to do away with the Performance class entirely. Often the MSUBDC is called on to perform at special events. Thus, we have decided to teach our choreographed performances to any who would be interested during an extracurricular block on Friday. Please let us know if you are interested and we will get you further information.
We are having our semester dance on October 22nd! The theme is a masquerade ball and will be located at the First United Methodist Church in Starkville. We will have food, decorations, and LOTS of music. Some of our alumni members will also be in attendance! Even if you just started taking lessons consider coming out, because this is a great time to practice some of your moves as well as learn new ones from our alumni and senior members.
Also, we will soon have a section on the website with details about events hosted by other studios and clubs in the area. In addition, we are working on a new layout. Be sure to check the website (www.msubdc.info) for future updates.

We have sizes ranging from small to 2XL.
The 10 Rules of Ballroom Dance:
1. Thou shall dance.
2. Men must offer in merriment their hand for dancing.
3. Ladies shall spin in contentment as men lift their hands.
4. Thou shall adhere to the line of dance.
5. The dance floor is ne’er a bumper-cars arena.
6. ‘Tis always the leader’s fault for any mishap.
7. The fifth point of contact shan’t work…EVER.
8. Thou shall not grunt, no matter how softly, whilst dipping thine partner.
9. If it’s squishy, verify thou hast no business putting thine hand there.
10. Thou shall not step upon thine partner’s foot.
11. Thou shall overlook that this is more than ten rules.
12. Thou shall ballroom dance in thine head whilst listening to thine radio.
13. Thou shall covet no other dance than ballroom.

Hello Ladies and Gents!
Thank you for your interest in the MSU Ballroom Dance Club!
This is your friendly secretary, Claudia! I hope to meet you soon at class!
We start Sunday, August 28th, at 3:30 p.m.
We meet in Sanderson Studio A and offer four classes every Sunday.
3:30–Intermediate Bachata / Merengue
4:30–Performance Tango
5:30–Beginner Salsa
6:30–Beginner Foxtrot
The intermediate classes are for those who feel they would like more advanced instruction or individual attention (our beginner classes are usually pretty full).
The performance class teaches a choreographed routine every semester. As with all of our classes, you don’t have to bring a partner.
The beginner classes are for absolutely anyone who is interested in ballroom! We hope you learn to love it as we do!
We ask that you wear comfortable clothing (you may wear skirts if you please…girls) and shoes that will not mark the floor (no black rubber soles).
There is always time to get water, but feel free to bring your own. Heels for girls are not required, but some find them rather fun to prance in.
Any more questions will be happily answered when we can.
Feel free to e-mail me (cmb500@msstate.edu), the club (msubdc@gmail.com), or simply come to class and ask!
We are so excited about you coming to dance with us!
